Please note: Overdoing this exercise can actually damage your vocal folds. Patience is the key to these exercises.

What kind of exercises are outlined in this video?

The exercises outlined in the video below can get you a deeper sounding voice in as little as a day. For some, it has taken as little as a few minutes. However, you have to repeat the exercises for a week or so to see some decent results. Some people have managed to lower their voice by an entire octave using these same exercises.

It really does work. Here are some comments that have been posted on the YouTube video above:

collegestudent4peace: “Thank you so much for this. It actually WORKS! Thanks! ”

As you can see from my website, I’ve done a lot of research into lowering your voice so I could determine what options were out there for me, and which ones are the best. In my search for information, I came across Rudy Hanes and his Deep Voice Mastery program. What follows is my unbiased review of his program, which I personally feel is the best out there.

Rudy Hanes "Deep Voice Mastery"

What Is Deep Voice Mastery by Rudy Hanes?

Deep Voice Mastery is a relatively new voice deepening ebook/program that teaches both vocal and physical exercises that deepen your voice. It’s meant for not only high pitched voices, but also those that have squeaky/crackly voices.

Now, let me tell you that there isn’t a whole lot out there when it comes to voice deepening guides/programs, so whenever something new hits the market I’m always eager to check it out.

Although having a voice coach would be great, most of us can’t afford to pay $100 or more per session (usually a minimum of 5 sessions). Also, many of us don’t have the time to go meet with a voice coach and spend an hour at the session, and another hour to commute.

This is why programs like Deep Voice Mastery can be very valuable. They can potentially save you time and lots of money… if they work!

When I started this site back in July 2008, the only online program out there was Mike London’s 12 page ebook called “A Deeper Voice: Right Away”. It wasn’t very extensive, but people that came to my site tried it and said it worked.

Now that we’re in the year 2011, I figured that there had to be another program out there and sure enough I found “Deep Voice Mastery” authored by a man named Rudy Haynes.

I went ahead and forked out the $47 for the program, grabbed a cup of coffee and dove right in…

*NOTE!! I’d like to mention that I actually did buy the program for full price and am not one of those “other guys” that writes a review based only on the sales page of the site! I figure that if you are considering buying one of these programs, it’s only fair that you know what you are going to get.

Click Here To Check Out Deep Voice Mastery

What Does Deep Voice Mastery Look Like?

Deep Voice Mastery is a 36 page guide written by Rudy Haynes. I wondered if Rudy was a real person, so I emailed him to ask a few questions after I purchased the program and to my surprise he responded within a few hours. Pretty impressive so far.

Now more about the book & program it’s self. Here’s a quick summary of what I received:

The book is very easy to follow and laid out nicely.

It outlines the exercises that Rudy himself used to transform his voice.

With the exception of a couple techniques, I can tell you that they were very similar (if not identical) to the exercises that worked for me.

There are also two other helpful chapters in the book that outline voice deepening surgery and testosterone buccal, and who might benefit from these methods. I can tell you that there really isn’t much information available on the web about these these topics, so I’m glad Rudy did the research and included the information in the ebook.

In addition to the ebook, there are a pile of bonuses. Although not all of them may appeal to you, there are a couple in particular that are worth the $47 cost of the program alone.

*Do note that it says the bonuses are available for a limited time, but I think that is just a marketing gimmick. They will still be available next week and probably next month for that matter!

See For Yourself How Deep Voice Mastery Can Help

Deep Voice Mastery Bonuses

Here’s what is included when you order the Deep Voice Mastery program:, and my 2 cents about each of them:

Voice Software

I tried this out and was impressed. Pretty cool piece of software that allows to test and track your voice pitch. It is a great way to actually be able to visually try to improve, and track your progress.

Ebooks

A couple of ebooks that didn’t interest me much, but could be useful to many of you. One is about how to gain confidence and the other is a guide to dating women. They are not going to help make your voice deeper, but could prove to be helpful!

Member’s Area Access

I thought this was cool. The members area has a bunch of articles, some videos, and some bonus downloads that Rudy doesn’t mention on the main website. It’s also the best place to contact Rudy.

Unlimited Email Support

I did verify that Rudy responds to emails which is cool. Basically he is offering his support to you for as long as you need it. Quite solid indeed…

Unlimited Updates

In all honesty I don’t know how many times the book will be updated, but the members area may very well be updated regularly. I cannot confirm this yet however as I only ordered the program a week ago.

See For Yourself How Deep Voice Mastery Can Help

What I Didn’t Like About Deep Voice Mastery

Overall I think Rudy did a nice job with the program. There are a couple of recommendations I made to him via email however.

I recommended that he make separate ebook that demonstrate the voice deepening exercises. Right now it’s all in the main book. Being separate from the 36 page manual might make it easier to follow.

I told him to make more video demonstrations so that the program is a little more user friendly. It’s still easy to follow, but more videos would make it even better.

Update: Rudy emailed me back and informed me that these changes will be made in the next edition of the program (not sure when it is being released).

Final Thoughts

If making your voice deeper is really important to you then for $47 this program will be a steal, and I think the majority of you will be impressed. The exercises work, Rudy appears to be a real person that offers real support, and pretty much all of the information you need is right at your finger tips.

This program beats Mike London’s “Deeper Voice: Right Away” out of the water. No comparison. It’s $20 cheaper and is way more extensive.

What does your voice say about you?

Or rather, what do people think of you because of your voice?

When you open your mouth, people form an opinion of you, whether they are conscious of it or not. And if you are a man with a high pitched voice, the opinion people are forming might not be very good.

Need some proof? Take a look at this YouTube video:

Why is this funny? This isn’t just in the U.S. either, this ‘joke’ translates into languages around the world. If this is you, with or without that body, there’s nothing funny about being laughed in the face because of something you can’t help.

Or can you?

Think about it, what do you have control over with your body? If you’re skinny, you can lift weights and put on some muscle. If you’ve gained a few pounds, you diet and exercise and take them off. If you’re getting thinning hair, get plugs.

Some things you can’t change, you can’t be taller or shorter than you are. You can’t suddenly make yourself older or younger, those things are pretty fixed. But many things about your appearance are pliable. You can change your body shape, dye your hair, grow a mustache, cut off your hair, wear different clothes, get contacts, or get glasses (fake ones are very popular these days). Let’s face it, people DO judge a book by its cover. It’s not just how you look, but also how you smell, you wear deodorant, don’t you? Or even cologne? And it’s about how you sound.

So, is your voice one of those things that is under your control or not? Is it more like the color of your hair or how tall you are?

I’m here to tell you, you CAN change your voice. There are actually several ways to do it.

But before we talk about those, let’s talk a little bit about what your voice is costing you.

Have you ever asked a woman out for a date and been flatly refused?

How about going in for a job interview? Were you terrified to even open up your mouth?

Do you avoid talking to people, giving answers in class or speaking up at work meetings?

Is your voice holding you back?

One of the definitions of being manly is to have a deep voice. That’s because it’s one of the side effects of testosterone. But just because your voice is high, does not mean you’re less manly or less deserving. That you’re not capable of taking care of a family or any of the other things that people make up about you.

What can you do to make your voice deeper?
So, what are the options? There are a number of ways that you can address this issue. Let’s take a look at the big ones.

Hire a voice coach.

Actors, news anchors and radio personalities have all done it. You think James Earl Jones (Darth Vadar) or Don Lafontaine (The Movie Guy) hasn’t worked with a coach? Donuts to dollars they have. And you can too.

Check out this video from Australia, it’s a pretty dramatic difference. In just a short time, she went from being shy and cowering to being able to sit up tall and speak in front of her coach, the host, the audience AND all those people out there watching in TV land. Wouldn’t it be great to feel that confident and self-assured?

Here’s the kicker though, most coaches work one-on-one and charge accordingly. Depending on where you live, lessons can be $50, $100, even $200 a session. In many places, there are no voice coaches. Or they focus on singing, which doesn’t necessarily help you get the speaking voice you want.

Another option is getting testosterone replacement therapy.

After all, it is testosterone production that lowers the voice during puberty. And it’s why men in general have lower voices than women. So, why not just take some to solve your problem?

The thing is, you can’t target the effects of testosterone. While it would in all likelihood lower your voice, it can also have a whole host of other side effects.

Effects that can profoundly change the rest of your life.
Things like increased hair growth, which for some of us, that might be a good thing. But how about acne or oily skin, no one wants more of that. Fatigue, hair loss, change in sex drive (maybe not in a good way, either), a bitter taste in the mouth, painful or tender gums, headaches. And those are the minor side effects.

More severe problems include rashes and allergic reactions, breast size increase and tenderness, changes in your digestion, depression, moodiness, hostility, loss of appetite and problems sleeping…none of these sound like fun. Granted, these are rare reactions, but who wants to mess with their body that much?

Oh, don’t forget an increased risk of prostate cancer, sometimes as quickly as in a few months. In fact, a couple of synthetic testosterone supplements have been completely taken off the market due to their dangerous side effects.

That’s not to say that testosterone replacement therapy isn’t for you. BUT you can’t get a prescription just because you have a high pitched voice. You have to actually have low testosterone levels. Only your doctor can figure this out through a series of tests. So, if you have other symptoms that indicate this might be the case, you should certainly go in for a visit.

Vocal Chord Surgery

Now, another option that you may have heard of is an operation known as Thyroplasty surgery. This is where a doctor goes in and surgically alters your vocal chords. The procedure can be used to lower the pitch of your voice.

It works by altering the cartilage in the voice box to change the position or length of the vocal folds, which are more commonly known as the vocal chords. A small, plastic implant is often inserted to assist with strengthening the vocal chords. Because the surgery is performed with a local instead of a general anesthesia, you are awake for the procedure. This allows the surgeon to see if it has worked right away. After he has inserted the implant, he may ask you to speak so that he can make any needed adjustments.

This surgery in not just used for pitch lowering, in fact, its intended purpose is to help people with weak vocal chords. People who have suffered damage as a result of an accident, smoking, long term deterioration from an illness or even someone with throat cancer.

But there have been instances when this procedure has been used to lower the pitch of a voice, however; this is something that you would need to discuss with your physician. As with any surgery, there are risks involved, and the results may not be what you hoped. This should be considered a last resort after all other resources have been exhausted.

Besides the risk, there is also the cost. This would probably be considered “cosmetic surgery,” so there’s a fair chance that your insurance will not cover it. It is upwards of $5,000. Now that’s a lot of money to spend, especially when there are other options.

Let’s look at one more:

Voice Lowering Exercises

What if I told you that you could have voice coaching results without the voice coaching cost?

That’s right, there are programs out there that outline exactly the steps you need to take to lower your voice yourself. These are simple, daily exercises that you do at home, every day. After just a few sessions, you will start to notice results. And so will those around you.

Now, this isn’t an easy fix, it does require commitment and work. Consistency is key. But, isn’t a few minutes of your day worth it to achieve the results you’re looking for? To make a long lasting and potentially life changing adjustment to something as noticeable and judged, as your voice.

You have to decide that this is a change that you want in your life and be willing to put the time and energy into making it happen. It’s not just about voice exercises, there are some lifestyle changes that will greatly enhance deepening your voice. Things that seem simple, but do require you to be conscious of every day. Like your posture. When you slouch, you don’t allow yourself to breath fully and are holding back on your vocal projection. There’s a reason that you’re supposed to sit up straight.

Or drinking enough water. Not liquids, water. Only water will give you the hydration you need to keep your vocal chords, and the rest of the muscles in your body, hydrated. Drinking 8-10 glasses a day, in combination with the other strategies, can make a big difference.

Doing it on your own is simple and easy, if you have a guideline to show you what to do. This ebook outlines a series of steps to gradually train yourself to have a deeper, more manly voice. This step-by-step program breaks down what you need to do each day, including neck exercises, voice training and life style changes that are going to support you in getting what you want. And at a fraction of the cost of any of the other options.

Conclusion

Don’t you owe it to yourself to take the time to make this change in your life. Who would have thought that something as seemingly insignificant as your voice could have such a profound effect. But if you are a man with a high pitched voice, you know just how much of a difference this makes. There are options, you don’t need to spend your life feeling less than. So, lift up your chin (yes, that does help) and make a decision to take control of your life, today.

Do you think that having a deep voice is a big asset? What do you think the ladies views are on a deep voice?

Would you believe it if I told you that the majority of women agree that a deep voice is an attribute that they look for when choosing a man?

I’m sure you may have figured that having a deep voice couldn’t hurt when it came to the ladies… but perhaps you had never seen rock solid proof.

Well… I’m going to show you some proof that I found on another website that I thought was very interesting.

I came across this poll that someone had posted on a website called AnswerBag.com.

He posted the following question:

“Ladies: Are you attracted to a man who has a deep voice?”

Checkout the answers below…

Answer #1: “I don’t know about deep, but I don’t like it to be high pitched.”

Answer #2: “well i have never really been with a guy that has had a deep voice but as long as they dont sound like they are going through puberty i am good to go with the whole deep voice thing.”

Answer #3: “Oh yeah. Something about it gives me goose bumps.”

Answer #4: “Yes, but not like James Earl Jones or anything. But I will say that my husband sounds extremely in his deep ‘first thing in the morning’ or “last thing in the evening’ voice.”

Answer #5: “yeah but not too deep or anything. I would say my b/f has a REGULAR voice for a man, i like that just fine. There was a study and men with deeper voices tend to father more children….weird huh? Saw it on the news”

Answer #6: “Yep…a high, thin voice is never pleasant to the ear, even in a woman. Think James Earl Jones…I could listen to him read anything and not be bored…yes, even the phonebook!.”

Answer #7: “Baritone or Bass will get me every time.”

Click Here to view the actual AnswerBag webpage with this poll.

Well there you have it guys, it looks like a unanimous decision-a deep voice is a huge plus when it comes to picking up chicks.

So… What Does This Mean??

So I know what you’re saying… that’s great news for the dude’s with a baritone voice, but not for those with a high pitched voice!

Well, the good news my friends is that there is something that you can do to transform your squeaky, high pitched voice into a deeper, sexier more trust worthy voice. Although a small percentage of you may require pitch lowering surgery or testosterone to deepen you voice, most of you can benefit from simple voice and vocal cord exercises.

By performing these exercises regularly you will be able to increase the projection and depth of your voice.

Most people aren’t even aware that pitch lowering surgery even exists. The truth of the matter is, pitch lowering surgery (also referred to as “Thyroplasty”) is real and happens every day.

Pitch lowering surgery alters the size and/or shape of the vocal cords. This in turn changes the pitch of your voice. Most candidates for this type of surgery have sustained damage to their vocal cords or the nerves surrounding them, or were born with voice problems. However, there are people with extremely high pitched voices that have the surgery simply because they want to make their voice sound deeper.

Here is a little more information about pitch lowering surgery:

Presurgery

Before the procedure you will fill out a form that helps assess your risks, and answer any questions you may have. In addition, the doctor will perform an evaluation of your voice box bot visually, and audibly.

Risks of Surgery

As with most surgeries, there are many risks. Aside from inflammation and infection or severe scaring, loss of vocal range is possible. The voice pitch may also not change to it’s desired level.

The Procedure

Most thyroplasty procedures are performed in an outpatient setting under general anesthesia. After you have been anethsitized, insicions are made in your neck. A strip of cartilage is removed from the sides of your voice box, and new edges are sutured together.

Recovery

After the surgery your voice will likely be deeper immediately, however there will be swelling that will alter the pitch (usually very low). The actual pitch may not set in for two to three months after the swelling has gone down.

Is pitch lowering surgery right for you?

If you have consulted your physician and have tried voice training and nothing seems to be working, then pitch lowering surgery may be a viable option. However, it really should be a last resort. Not only are there risks involved, it is also quite costly.

I found that training my voice worked extremely well. It didn’t happen overnight, but with plenty of practice I was able to sustain a deeper pitch that is finally there every time I speak.

Do yourself a favor and don’t start smoking, don’t scream, you’ll just damage your voice cords. Check out Rudy Haynes online course called “Deep Voice Mastery“. It’s the most comprehensive course of it’s kind and has gotten some great reviews from readers of this site who have had great results with it.

Many people email me and ask me if smoking makes your voice deeper. I’ve never smoked myself, but can tell you by knowing a number of people that have smoked for many years, it does. Haven’t you ever heard a 60 year old women that smokes? They often sound like a man!

I did a little research and found out that in the short term, smoking can make some people’s voice sound deeper because it makes the vocal chords swell. Also, the phlegm that builds up in your throat can change the shape of your voice box. For certain people, this makes their voice sound more “crackly”, while for others it will actually lower their pitch.

The Long Term Effects

The problem is that over the long term, smoking is very bad for your vocal cords so if you are considering smoking just to benefit from a deeper voice I’d recommend that you seriously reconsider.

You probably already know how bad smoking is for the rest of your body… It causes all kinds of cancers, cardiovascular problems, breathing problems etc. Not only will it contribute to premature break down of your vocal cords, it can also cause polyps to grow on them. These polyps can make you voice sound absolutely awful.

Simply put, the risks of smoking to make your voice deeper out weight the small change that might occur with your voice.

What are Better Voice Deepening Options?

Although voice deepening surgery and testosterone are options to help make your voice deeper, they should really be a last resort and really are not necessary for most people. The costs and risks associated with both methods are high.

90% of the time, voice training will help you deepen your voice pitch. It won’t happen overnight, but if you are consistent with the training exercises it can make a big difference.

If you don’t have the money for hiring a voice coach for private lessons, then PLEASE do yourself a favor and checkout the next best thing…

Rudy Haynes “Deep Voice Mastery Course“, which shows you exercises that will loosen the tension in your vocal cords and make your voice deeper.

It’s easy to follow, cheap, and best of all it really works.

Deep Voice Mastery is a relatively new voice deepening ebook/program that teaches both vocal and physical exercises that deepen your voice. It’s meant for not only high pitched voices, but also those that have squeaky/crackly voices.

CLICK HERE to visit the Deep Voice Mastery Website

Now, let me tell you that there isn’t a whole lot out there when it comes to voice deepening guides/programs, so whenever something new hits the market I’m always eager to check it out.

Even a few years ago when I transformed my voice, there wasn’t much helpful reading material out there so I really had to learn most of the stuff on my own… and this took lots of time and experimentation.

Why Should You Consider a Voice Deepening Program?

Although having a voice coach would be great, most of us can’t afford to pay $100 or more per session (usually a minimum of 5 sessions). Also, many of us don’t have the time to go meet with

Rudy Hanes "Deep Voice Mastery"

a voice coach and spend an hour at the session, and another hour to commute.

*NOTE!! I’d like to mention that I actually did buy the program for full price and am not one of those jerks that writes a review based only on the sales page of the site! I figure that if you are considering buying one of these programs, it’s only fair that you know what you are going to get.

What is the Deep Voice Mastery program?

Deep Voice Mastery is a 36 page guide written by Rudy Haynes. I wondered if Rudy was a real person, so I emailed him to ask a few questions after I purchased the program and to my surprise he responded within a few hours. Pretty impressive so far.

Now more about the book & program it’s self…

What I Didn’t Like About Deep Voice Mastery

Overall I think Rudy did a nice job with the program. There are a couple of recommendations I made to him via email however.

1 – I recommended that he make separate ebook that demonstrate the voice deepening exercises. Right now it’s all in the main book. Being separate from the 36 page manual might make it easier to follow.

2 – I told him to make more video demonstrations so that the program is a little more user friendly.

According to a recent study, men with deeper voices have more children than those with a higher pitched voice.

The study conducted by David Feinberg of McMaster University in Canada showed that women are more attracted to men that have deeper voices. Why is this? Apparently some women sub-conciously feel that the men are more masculine, healthier and older than other men.

David conducted the study to see how the increased attraction to deeper voiced men affected reproduction and the survival of offspring.

“While we find in this new study that voice pitch is not related to offspring mortality rates,” Feinberg said, “we find that men with low voice pitch have higher reproductive success and more children born to them.”

To look for a relationship between the pitch of a man’s voice and birth rates researchers studied a tribe in Tanzania know as the Hadza. This tribe is one of the last know true hunter-gatherer cultures. Because the tribe use no modern methods of birth control, the researches could compart birth rates with no outside influencing factors.

In the end the study showed that Male Hadza tribe members with the deepest voices had more children than the men with higher pitched voices. This relationship between the depth of one’s voice and birth rates could give insight into the evolution of now only how females choose their mates, but also that of the male voice.

“If our ancestors went through a similar process,” Feinberg said, “this could be one reason why men’s and women’s voices sound different.”

If you were not born with a deep voice you can’t turn into Barry White. The good news is that there are voice exercises that you can perform that will help condition your vocal chords and improve the depth of your voice dramatically.

Many people that they want a deep singing voice, when in actuality they want a stronger, clearer voice that expresses confidence. Some people want all of the above!

The bad news is that if you don’t sound like Don Lafontaine now, you probably never will. I am sorry to say that, but it is the truth.

You see, the size of your larynx is the most important factor that determines how deep your voice is. Those with a larger larynx naturally have a deeper voice, because the vocal cord muscles are longer and are therefore able to produce a lower sound.

The good news is that you can certainly make your voice deeper and improve the strength and clarity of your voice by “exercising” the vocal cord muscles and following the other steps I outline below.

The Steps to a Deeper More Powerful Singing Voice

In order to achieve a deeper singing voice, there are a few things that you must master, which I will go over in detail below:

Deep Singing Voice Tip #1 – Strengthen Your Diaphragm Muscles

Strengthening your diaphragm will allow you to take fuller, deeper breaths. In order to strengthen the diaphragm muscle, inhale slowly and then exhale with an “ss” sound (like a snake). Panting also works, but in either case it is important that you focus on using the diaphragm muscle in order to build those muscle. Simply put, do not exhale using your lungs, use your diaphragm! You may feel some discomfort in the diaphragm muscle as you continue this exercise, and that is a sign that you are performing it correctly.

Deep Singing Voice Tip #2 – Proper Posture

Posture is an important aspect when it comes to a deeper more powerful voice, and it is often overlooked. Proper posture will help properly align the muscles that are responsible for projecting your voice.

Here are some posture tips:

Pretend that there is a string attached to your head and it is being pulled upwards.

Your head should be above your shoulders, shoulder above hips, hips above the knees (slightly bent) and knees above your feet.

Raise your chest to ensure that the lungs can fully expand when inhaling.

Simply put, slouching and poor body alignment are unacceptable and will deteriorate the sound of your voice.

Deep Singing Voice Tip #3 – Voice Projection

To get the most out of your voice, make sure you are relaxed. Strained, tight vocal cords will make your voice sound higher as opposed to lower. Now, stand straight and take a deep breath in. It’s important that you raise your palate at this point-once you feel cold air hit the back of your throat you are good to go. Now project your voice using your diaphragm muscles. Be sure that your chin is straight or slightly downwards.

I’m sure that these deep singing voice tips will be helpful to you. I’d also like to note that if you are not 25 years of age yet, your singing voice might naturally become lower over time, so it’s important to be patient!

I’d like to share a couple of simple tips for those of you that want to get a deeper voice. As you probably know by now, it takes quite a bit of work to get a deeper voice especially for those that have weak or high voices.

Fortunately there are some things that you can do to make your voice sound deeper and stronger. One of the most important things to do is to strengthen the vocal cords.

Simply put, if your vocal cords are weak, then your voice will also be weak. Even tight vocal cord muscles will cause the pitch of your voice to be higher.

You see, the vocal cords are a small muscle that are responsible for creating the sound of your voice by manipulating the air that comes from your lungs.

So what causes the vocal cords to be weak and/or tight? It can be a number of different things including:

Excessive stress

Poor diet

Habitual tensing of the vocal cords

Strengthening the Vocal Cords for a Deeper Voice

There are a number of different exercises you can perform to strengthen your vocal cords, which in turn will help you get a deeper voice. First I suggest you try an exercise to make your voice sound deeper. That is an example of ways that you can condition your vocal cords to get a deeper voice.

There are plenty of other exercises that work, but I suggest that if you are interested in learning them you learn it form a man named Rudy Haynes. In his ebook “Deep Voice Mastery” he teaches you the best vocal chord exercises there are.
